South Sudan has endured five consecutive years of historic flooding. For farming families, the water is no longer an occasional disaster; it is the defining condition of the growing season.
ALDO promotes climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction, supports environmental conservation and sustainable resource management, and introduces climate-resistant farming practices: flood-tolerant and early-maturing crop varieties, seed preservation, and methods that protect harvests against a shortening, less predictable season.
The goal is preparation rather than repeated regret. Preparedness costs a fraction of emergency response, and it is the difference between a bad season and a lost year.
