Health is inseparable from food and water. Malnutrition stalks well over a million children under five in South Sudan, and preventable disease spreads fastest where clean water and sanitation are absent.
ALDO works to improve access to primary healthcare and nutrition services, to promote hygiene and disease prevention, and to strengthen community awareness of maternal and child health. Where families are growing more nutrient-dense vegetables and legumes through ALDO's livelihoods work, the nutrition gains compound.
This pillar joins the others deliberately. A household with reliable food, clean water, and basic health knowledge is a household that can withstand the next shock rather than be broken by it.
